![]() The smartest thing NI and frankly any DJ gear manufacturer is to provide a free RB conversion tool. Rekordbox on the other hand is relevant now because it's club-standard compatible and it offers the best collection management tools, hands down-way better than Traktor. I think it'll be a year before NI starts to be relevant again. For DJs who have been DJing for years and have spent hundreds if not thousands of hours tagging, bit-gridding and setting hotcues the prospect of switching to a different platform is daunting.Īnyway, so NI recently fired 20% of their workforce and promised good stuff ahead without giving any details. If Pioneer adds a tool within Rekordbox to import Serato libraries, I can imagine a lot of DJs would jump ship. Personally I would not want to use Serato if I was new to DJing. ATM Pioneer continue to release Serato controllers but as you can imagine the moment Rekordbox starts winning Pioneer are going to close the tap. Pioneer is trying to perhaps not replace but certainly grab a chunk of Serato's market with Rekordbox. I just thought I'd note how Traktor LE seems to me to differ from Pro 3 quite fundamentally.įor me the battle is between Traktor and Rekordbox. Sorry if my experience is too limited to help comprehensively. I didn't dig deeper, nor check out its beat detection. I'm a laptop DJ - I can't afford controller hardware yet - and found the Serato interface to be lacking in control upon first impression. Mixxx had similar beat detection problems to what I've described LE as having - almost identical in fact. Running out of patience, I bought and installed Pro 3. I tried installing the Pro 3 demo but kept ending up with LE installed. It came with LE, so I installed that through Native Access. I can relate my experience of trying out Traktor a bit more: I bought an Audio 2. I stuck with my set-up once I knew it worked. I recommend finding someone with a paid copy of Pro 3, to try, instead of LE unless someone else can vouch for the demo of Pro 3 having the same algorithm as the full version. I haven't been able to try any demo of Pro 3 (due to some issues related to Native Access, I think) but can say that, when analysing jungle, Pro 3 gives me correct BPMs of around 165-175 instead of 115ish like LE does, for whatever reason. I can only speak for Traktor, mostly in that it seems the beat detection algorithm is better in the paid Pro 3 version than in the LE version.
